The Season of Ephiphany
The Season of Epiphany is, for us in the Parish of Lantz, a season of ministry. The liturgical celebrations and readings for the Epiphany Season challenge us to extend our ministry and grow in the way we portray the Love of Christ to the world around us.
The Epiphany "event" -- the visit of the Wise Men to the Christ child -- is described as the "manifestation (showing) of Christ to the the world." In living out the mandate of Epiphany, we are all called to "show off" Christ's love to the world, becoming the light of Christ to a darkened world. This is exemplified in the covenant of Baptism, where we are to "seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbours as ourselves" and "to let our lights shine before others."
During this season, we attend to matters of our shared ministry. We bring others to new life in Baptism, we conduct our annual reviews of ministry, the annual meeting, participate in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, and as we hear the stories of Jesus' encounters and calling of others into ministry, see ourselves reflecting this love in our own growth in ministry, whether in the church, our daily lives or our communities.
On January 27 we will celebrate our ministry together with the annual Parish Congregational Meeting. During our liturgies through this season, we will recognize the significant contributions to the life of the parish. Your contribution to the life of the Parish is a commitment of time and talent as well as treasure, and the Season of Epiphany is the time to reconsider your pledge and commitment!
